Session Ale – 5.5 Gal - OG 1.056 – FG 1.010 – ABV 5.5% - IBU 23 – SRM 4
Welcome to class! This is the second recipe which will be taught in our Brewing Classes. This is a SMaSH style. Which means, the beer is made from just a single type of malted barley and a single type of hop. This style is designed to help brewers learn what individual components of a beer taste like. You can make SMaSH recipes with any type of base malt and hop. Perhaps your first recipe you brew at home will be a different type of SMaSH?
This one is a classic. Combining the rich notes of Maris Otter malt along with the tropical fruit/citrus experience that is Citra hops. We tend to call Citra a cheat code because it makes every beer so good. During the class we’ll go over all the ins and outs on how to brew this style of beer. And for those of you not joining us in class, it is available to all to try out for themselves!
